VIRTUAL Know Your Rights! (Hosted by About Face, Common Defense, & the Military Law Task Force)

Service Members, Veterans, and Military Families have more rights than we are often told — including the right to speak, protest, seek redress, and obligation to refuse unlawful orders. But often, it’s hard to understand exactly what to do. In this training, we we will cover:

• Your rights to free speech, protest, press, and use social media

• How to seek redress through Congress, the Inspector General, whistleblower protections, etc.

• What constitutes a lawful vs. unlawful order

• What happens if you receive an unlawful order — and what options exist

• How to protect your health & well-being while navigating moral stress

This training is rooted in existing military regulations and real-world guidance, including DoD Instructions, the Manual for Courts-Martial, and long-standing GI rights resources.  

This is not about defiance for its own sake. It is about knowing your rights, understanding your responsibilities, and educating yourself so you know what your options are.  

It’s more important now than ever to know the law, protect your integrity, and lead with conscience.
